Selecting the Superior Roses for Rose Water

Usually growing well in Zones 2 through 7, roses flourish in full sun, rich soil, and good drainage. Choose kinds of roses with very fragrant blooms when choosing roses for rose water since more essential oil they contain will be present in those flowers. Fragrant skincare ideal types are Old Rose, Rugosa, Damask, and Apothecary's rose.

Always choose organically produced roses; gather them when the blossoms are just beginning to open to guarantee they are not overripe. Perfect for skincare products including bath mixes, mists, and lotions, rose petals are prized for their capacity to hold moisture.

How to Make Rose Water

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup freshly picked, clean rose petals
  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 3 tablespoons vodka (as a preservative)

Instructions:

  1. Place the rose petals in a cleaned and sterilized glass jar.
  2. Add the distilled water and vodka, ensuring the petals are fully covered.
  3. Gently crush the petals with a wooden spoon to help release their natural oils into the liquid.
  4. Cover the jar and place it in a warm spot or on a sunny windowsill. Let it infuse for about 2 weeks.
  5. After 2 weeks, strain out the petals and discard them (or add them to compost).
  6. Store the rose water in a sterilized glass jar and use within 3 to 6 months.

How to create rosewater cream?

A conventional lotion that leaves skin smooth, radiant, and moistened without clogging pores.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
  • ¾ tablespoon grated beeswax
  • 1 tablespoon rose water (store-bought or homemade; see recipe above)

TIP

A mild base that doesn't overwhelm the scent of rose water is sweet almond oil, known for its skin-softening qualities and high vitamin contents. For most advantages, use virgin or unrefined almond oil.

Advice:

  1. Combine the sweet almond oil and beesw wax in a little pot or pan. Heat just enough to melt the beeswasker.
  2. Turn off the heat and let it to gently cool.
  3. Add the rose water; stir thoroughly to blend.
  4. Keep in a dark, cool glass container that has been sterilised.
  5. Use as a scented lotion to gently soften chapped lips or dry skin.

By following this simple recipe, you can create a luxurious, rose-scented cream to pamper your skin. Enjoy the natural benefits of rose petals, whether you use it as a soothing lotion, toner, or mist for your beauty routine.
